The Magic of Marketing Isnt Magic

The Magic of Marketing Isnt Magic

There Is No Magic to Marketing

As an entrepreneur, I used to look at marketing as something that mystified me. Shopify overwhelmed me, and I put no focus on online sales. Because I thought I couldn’t do it, I hired a marketing company—and soon realized that, given the exorbitant amount of money they were charging and the lack of much growth......maybe they didn’t know how to do it that well either.

Out of frustration, I decided to delve into it myself. Four months ago, I took an amazing course on marketing! And you know what I found? Most of the stuff made me go, "OMG, duh! How come I never thought of that?" I had been so busy perfecting my product anf focusing on distribution, that I didn’t realize how some simple changes could make such a huge difference.

Fast forward four months, and here I am: writing blogs, upping my social media game, running ads, fixing the website (with a little help form a techy teen), and—most importantly—feeling proud of myself. What I’ve learned is that sometimes we hold ourselves back because we think we can’t do something. But really, all it takes is a little education on the topic. You don’t need to go to school for three years to learn marketing for your business. There are some amazing "bootcamp" marketing courses out there.

In my quest to never stop learning, I decided to tackle marketing. I’m only halfway through the course (it can be completed much faster, but I’m balancing kids and business), and we’ve already doubled our online sales. It’s been exhilarating.

If you’re an entrepreneur feeling stuck or overwhelmed, take it from me: you can do this. Sometimes, the magic isn’t magic at all—it’s just about taking the first step and committing to learning something new.
