How I Fell in Love with Freeze-Drying

Sharing a warehouse with someone who owned a freeze-drying machine was like stepping into a world of endless possibilities. I still remember how, late at night, my mind would race with ideas. “What can we freeze-dry next?” It was like having a golden ticket to innovation, and I couldn’t stop imagining the potential.

As someone with a tea company that specializes in powdered blends, discovering freeze-drying felt revolutionary. The process was so simple yet so transformative—once you freeze-dry something, it’s incredibly easy to turn it into a powder. For a superfood lover like me, it was pure magic. I started experimenting with everything, envisioning ways to elevate my products with more nutrient-dense, real ingredients.  I even brought a pickle to work and we tested that!

This excitement eventually led me to revamp my lemonade recipe: a lemonade company made with REAL lemons. But not just any lemonade—this was my chance to reinvent the store-bought staple we’ve all grown up with. Most of the options on the market are packed with artificial colors and flavors, which, frankly, I wanted no part of. Instead, I use organic cane sugar, freeze-dried lemons, and an array of superfoods like beet powder and blue spirulina to create a drink that’s not only delicious but also nourishing.

Why freeze-dried? Because it’s a game-changer. Freeze-dried fruits retain most of their nutrients, unlike artificial flavorings that might deliver taste but add zero health benefits. Plus, the intense, natural flavor of real fruit means no need for synthetic alternatives. And the best part? The process locks in the vibrant colors and benefits of superfoods like beet powder and blue spirulina, making every sip as visually stunning as it is nutritious.
