A Delightful Tradition: Hosting a Christmas Tea Party with Friends

A Holiday Tea Party

The holiday season approaches, life gets busier than ever. From decorating the house to shopping for gifts and attending events, December often feels like a whirlwind. That’s why, over the years, I’ve cherished the tradition of hosting a Christmas tea party with friends during the day. For me, it's the perfect way to slow down, enjoy meaningful connections, and sip tea with good company—without the hassle of trying to squeeze gatherings into hectic December evenings.

These daytime tea parties have become a seasonal ritual, offering a moment of calm in the midst of holiday chaos. With tea sandwiches, tiny ginger snap cookies, tea lattes and cozy conversations, the atmosphere is light-hearted and joyful. It’s a time to connect before the season fully sweeps us all away into family gatherings and New Year’s celebrations.

Why a Daytime Tea Party?

Evenings can fill up quickly with holiday dinners, work events, and last-minute shopping. A daytime tea party feels refreshing, easy, and intimate. Hosting during the day allows everyone to unwind over tea without the pressure of nighttime commitments. Plus, there's something magical about gathering around a table, enjoying tea lattes, sandwiches, and sweets while catching up with dear friends.

The Tea Sandwich Lineup

Tea sandwiches are a must for my gatherings. They're simple to prepare, light, and always a hit with guests. Here are two of my favorite recipes to serve at a Domo Tea Christmas party:

Cucumber & Dill Tea Sandwiches

 Ingredients:

- 1 cucumber, thinly sliced - 4 oz cream cheese, softened - 1 tbsp fresh dill, chopped - White or whole wheat bread - Pinch of salt Instructions: 1. Mix the softened cream cheese with the fresh dill and a pinch of salt. 2. Spread the mixture evenly over the bread slices. 3. Add cucumber slices on top, then place another slice of bread over it. 4. Trim the crusts and cut the sandwiches into small triangles or squares.

Smoked Salmon & Herbed Cream Cheese Sandwiches

Ingredients: - 4 oz smoked salmon - 4 oz cream cheese, softened - 1 tbsp chopped chives - A squeeze of lemon - Whole wheat bread Instructions: 1. Combine the cream cheese, chives, and a little squeeze of lemon juice. 2. Spread the mixture on slices of whole wheat bread. 3. Lay the smoked salmon on top and sandwich with another slice of bread. 4. Cut off the crusts and slice into elegant finger-sized pieces.

Tiny Ginger Snap Cookies

– A Perfect Sweet Bite No tea party is complete without a bit of sweetness, and tiny ginger snap cookies are always on my menu. Their crisp texture and spiced flavor complement tea perfectly. I love serving them in little bowls or stacking them on a festive plate alongside other treats. They also make a lovely gift for guests to take home—a small, thoughtful reminder of our time together.

Tea Time, Anytime

Whether it's a rooibos latte with warm spices or Vanilla matcha or one of the black micro ground tea blends like Chai or London Fog, sipping tea with friends makes every holiday season feel a little more special and tea latte make it a little more interesting! I believe these tea parties create space for meaningful moments amidst the busyness, leaving us all feeling refreshed and connected. The simple joy of sharing good food, good tea, and good conversation brings a sense of calm that carries me through the festive season. If you find yourself overwhelmed with the holiday rush, consider hosting a tea party of your own. It’s a delightful way to take a breather, enjoy the company of loved ones, and welcome the spirit of Christmas—one tea cup at a time.
